Tomorrow at 10:15 pm our German TV premiere of Ralf Pleger’s documentary film about Florence Foster Jenkins is to be broadcast on ARTE.
In this film the worst singer of all times is embodied by Joyce DiDonato, by far one of the best singers of our time. Just recently the film has been awarded the special prize for originality by the jury of the Golden Prague Festival.
For us this side trip to the wondrous world of tones out of key was an exciting adventure. We therefore would want to once more greatly thank all our supporters enabling us to make this film. First and above all there are our co-producers ZDR/Arte and SRF, the broadcasters NRFK, ORF and SVT, the supporters Medienboard, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and DFFF, the numerous great crowd funders, further our film distributor Salzgeber, our two Associate Producers Alfred Kornfeld and Donna Leon and then especially Joyce DiDonato whose enthusiasm for Florence Foster Jenkins was absolutely contagious and spurred us on.
