Video-Clip Berlin Symphonie

Christian Jost, the composer living in Berlin, has written a new symphony for Berlin. He has been inspired by Berlin at night.

The „BerlinSymphonie“ was first performed on March 20th 2015 in the Konzerthaus. In Christian Jost’s introduction to his score (published by Schott) he writes:

„Berlin, Torstrasse, 4 o’clock in the morning in October…For a short time, for a moment the traffic has disappeared from the city. Just for a breath of air time stands still. A breath of air, cast in a piece of amber, holds onto this moment, before and after which the city will be the same as always, when it pulses, sleeps, rushing, standing still, calm and relaxed, when it is vibrating and exciting in each corner, in every nook, when it is in every single angle playing with the different facets of life. And before it all begins again and my breath returns from its slow-motion relaxation back to its regular steady rhythm, a fox suddenly crosses the Torstrasse, calm and completely unexcited. We both stop in our tracks, remark each other’s presence, the fox then trotting on and I watch him as he gradually disappears in a side street, between parked cars, immediately before everything is set in motion again and the city offers its permanent stage for the whole range of urban being.”

Coincidence or fortune? During shooting for the video clip we come across a fox in the middle of the „Strasse des 17. Juni“….

Maria Willer

is music journalist and was formerly, before founding the “3B-Produktion GmbH”, editor and presenter at the radio broadcaster “Klassik Radio” since 2003. Apart from her journalistic activities she has founded the “Musikkindergarten Hamburg”. Before working for the radio she was trainee as print journalist. In this way Maria Willer’s train of medial thinking spreads from the reader to the listener as well as to a film audience. Important for her is that stories reach out to human beings – whichever media is used.
