Piotr Anderszewski and the Piano
Not only is Piotr Anderszewski one of the most gifted pianists of our time, he is also a sceptic and a great perfectionist. Of all people, this sceptical perfections has to find a way in his musical day-to-day to come to terms with the fact that as a pianist, he will not always find the perfect instrument at the venue.
In the run up to a concert in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, for which Piotr Anderszewski and Thomas Hengelbrock perform Mozart’s Concerto Piano No. 24 in c-moll, we experience him in intense contest with his instrument, the piano. “It’s a complicated relationship. I would rather sometimes prefer the instrument wouldn’t exist.”, says Piotr Anderszewski. “Ideally I would like to communicate music telepathically. Without the need of a physical sound”.
