Music between colorful sofas, renowned artists and personal conversations – that’s the “SHMF Sofa Session”. At the Kulturwerft Gollan in Lübeck, three musical greats from completely different genres came together: the renowned clarinettist Sabine Meyer, the Israeli mandolinist Avi Avital and Nils Landgren, trombonist and artistic director of JazzBaltica. Sabine Meyer performed works by Gershwin and Shostakovich, among others, together with the Alliage Quintet, while Avi Avital and the “ensemble reflektor” performed pieces by Bach and Vivaldi. Things got jazzy when “4 Wheel Drive” took to the stage: Nils Landgren and his three comrades-in-arms Michael Wollny, Wolfgang Haffner and Lars Danielsson form a quartet that is rightly celebrated as the “supergroup” of European jazz.
