Mahler’s 5th Symphony

„The 5th is a cursed work. Nobody understands it”, wrote Mahler about his own work in Hamburg in 1905. Over a century later, his 5th symphony is being performed by Thomas Hengelbrock and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and is celebrated with rapturous applause by the audience at the Elbphilharmonie.
