Beauty is a Crime

They call each other brother and sister. And indeed, they are siblings in both spirit and musical genius. Together they push limits, work magic in sound and intensity. They are two exceptional artists, carried by an orchestra, that lively participates and not simply reacts. You never heard Mendelssohn’s famous violin concerto like this before!

It is the highlight of the Musikfest Bremen 2015: The young wildes come together. Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Teodor Currentzis and his classical band MusicAeterna give „Mendelssohn’s old war horse a make over without any golden shimmer” (Nordwest Zeitung).

“This Teodor Currentzis, together with his orchestra MusicAeterna is indeed the promised miracle from Perm.”
(Hamburger Abendblatt)

Equally as extraordinary as these two musicians, is the interview, which director Ralf Pleger conducted with them. About beauty as a crime, the search for the shadow in music and the annoying nature of bar lines.
