Pergolesi – Stabat Mater

The Konzerthausorchester Berlin performs Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater”, one of the most touching and influential sacred works of the Baroque era under the direction of Andrea Marcon. A special light dramaturgy in the Great Hall subtly underscores the drama of the plot of this “Stabat Mater”: in his farewell work, the music theatre composer Pergolesi, who died at the age of only 26, musically imbued the universal emotions of Mary mourning for her son under the cross with an intense, almost operatic power.

Recorded on 20.02.2021 at the Konzerthaus Berlin.

A production of 3B-Produktion commissioned by Konzerthaus Berlin, in cooperation with Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb).
